Permanent Housing.

One-third of Las Vegas senior adults are facing housing instability today and that number is expected to double in ten years. With your support, Elder HelpLv will be able to profoundly impact this crisis and give seniors in Las Vegas resource information to secure home environments and the affordable housing they need and deserve.

We are a group of passionate individuals committed to supporting homeless and at-risk seniors with affordable, permanent housing, resources, and services. We are rethinking what it means to age with dignity and independence, rather than institutionalization or isolation.  Elder HelpLv is committed to assisting you as a personal independent and assisted living resource referral guide during your research and evaluation process.

Home sharing program, Roommate Spotlight

We all remember the beloved Golden Girls: Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia laughing their way through the ups and downs of their golden years.  If you catch a late-night rerun you’ll hear the ladies discuss why they decided to live together: to avoid being alone and to share the expenses associated with having a nice home.  Today, this same script is playing out in communities across Las Vegas.

Keeping Families Sheltered

These services are focused on keeping families intact and housed.Often times a family is torn apart when they face homelessness because most shelters do not allow men (any male over the age of 13) to be sheltered in the same facility as women. HopeLink of Southern Nevada provides the ability for families to stay intact. For up to 30 days, a family who meets the criteria of future self-sustainability may be placed in a contracted weekly rental motel. This allows the HopeLink of Southern Nevada case manager daily interaction with the family while they are working to save money for rent, utilities, and deposits on a new home. During this period, the parent is counseled on how to avoid future bouts of homelessness and solid goals are established with the purpose of planning for the future.
